Father,

I received an owl with a rather official-looking letter from the Ministry this morning that has worried me a bit. It was from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. From Honour Pilliwickle, of Protectorate Defence.

I didn't even think--I hadn't considered--well, the Head Boy at Hogwarts is authorised to do Cruciatus, but not Imperius.

The letter says that my case is under consideration, but it doesn't say anything about penalties.

What's going to happen to me, do you think?

I hadn't thought of that. I should have, though. Ordinarily, Imperius is a spell which requires a licence, I believe.

I'm not quite sure, son, but I do think that the circumstances will certainly be taken into account.

It could be that there will be a hearing about the matter.

I will do some checking and will let you know what I learn. Try not to worry, son. It's a vast understatement to say you were not at fault here.
