My first impulse was to send an owl to Oliver, but now I'm not at all sure that would be a good idea. I wish to support him, as I consider him a very good friend, not just a roommate. But if he's mixed up in something dodgy, along with his family, if he's guilty....well, all ties would have to be cut, of course. There's my own position to consider: I'm looking for a job, and I'm hoping for the sort of position where my loyalty to the regime must be seen by everyone to be above reproach. It's bad enough that my own family is a strike against me (and don't I know it). I must be sure that none of my associations are questionable in any way.
I just don't know. Oliver hardly ever spoke of his family.
I've sent an owl off to Atticus, and I heard from Max by Floo this morning. They don't know what to think, either. Max is a little more free to make inquiries and so has sent him a letter (he already has a job, and I doubt the goblins would care), but hasn't heard back from him.

Date: 2011-06-27 01:03 am (UTC)My read of the article was a bit different, I suppose. It seemed to me from some of the things the paper said--from some of the things Oliver said to the reporters - that he might...well, that he might have helped MLE in one way or another.
It sounded to me as if he's glad to be shut of them.
And--well, the thing is...he did get an amazing package from Puddlemere. Isn't it possible that MLE had something to do with that, as well?
