I don't know if you've heard from the Headmistress or anything, but I just wanted you to know without being alarmed: there was an accident in Care of Magical Creatures today, and Ronald was hurt, but he will be all right. There was an errant slash by a hippogriff. I will say in Ronald's defence that as best as I can piece it together, he wasn't mucking around, but instead was trying to keep someone else from being hurt.

I've been to see him, but Madam Pomfrey had dosed him with something to help him sleep. She said that he'll be fine.

It was a strange concatenation of mishaps...someone stepped forward just as someone else shoved, and then someone screamed. At any rate, Ron's not at fault at all. If anything, he may get some credit that might do him some good. He was attempting to assist Draco Malfoy, and possibly saved him from an even more serious injury.

Yes. In the long run, it may even prove providential. It might be useful if his heroism is noted. By people in the proper quarters, I mean.

His friends who brought him from the class were rather shaken though. Neville was one of them. He was covered with--well. Never mind.

And Pansy Parkinson was there and gave me an enormous hug, if you can believe it, when I came out from seeing Ron. She was quite upset.
