You could have persuaded her to take a house for herself, couldn't you? And it would have been a better thing for you, too.

Even if you feel you still have to stay with her, surely you'd prefer to go back to live in New London, in vastly better quarters.

Unless you like pitchforking out goat shite every night?

I wanted to send you a note before arriving on work on Monday to express again my deep appreciation for your kind invitation this past Wednesday evening. I felt truly honored by your willingness to share your advice and very valuable time, not to mention the exceedingly gracious introductions to a number of the gentlemen there at your club.

I feel exceedingly fortunate in your willingness to mentor me, and I shall do my utmost to justify your faith in me. Thank you very much.

Bill, come see me when you wake up.

Look. I know you're worried about the eulogy. I meant what I said; I'm willing to do it instead if you think it's too much for you to bear. But if you're determined...

The thing is, I have something you should read. It's from Dad's journal, a private message to me. It's actually from the very last post he wrote, at the very end. Something he said about Mum. And the Burrow.

I think it was...very eloquent, really. And you might consider working it in to whatever you're writing.

But even if you don't use it for the eulogy, you should read it. I'm including Charlie on this message, because I think he would like it, too. I think it will help.

I'll copy it out for you, so you can look at it when you're awake again.

I am staying at Bill's, and he has agreed to put me up for the next few days.

I realise we will need to decide what to do about the lease quite soon, if not exactly immediately. I am sure we can discuss the matter like civilised adults sometime over the next week. In the meantime, I will need to come by the flat tomorrow to pick up a few personal necessities. I will be by between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm, if...if you wish to absent yourself during that time window.

If you prefer.

Bill?

Where are you? Please....

I came by your flat to see you, but you're not here.

I hope you see this. Could you please write back as soon as you do? I'll--I'll just wait here.

I cannot meet you for lunch today as we planned. My meeting with Mr Malfoy this morning...well, it was horrible.

I don't dare leave my desk today.

I know I'm later than I said I would be, but I'm wrapping things up now. And I have good news! Mr Malfoy is giving me a free afternoon tomorrow, since I've been working so hard, and he says I should spend it with you. Isn't that brilliant? He really is so kind.

I can leave at half past twelve tomorrow.

I just spotted the announcement in the Ministry weekly roundup. Assistant Director of Purity Control! How fine it sounds!

Congratulations, Bill! I'm extremely gratified to see your virtues and merit being rewarded. (Not to mention your devotion to pureblood principles. True blood will out, eh?)
alt_percy: (Tie)
Do not expect me home tonight. I may get a couple hours kip on the sofa, but I must stay here in case Mr Malfoy sends any instructions in his absence.

Penny:

When clearing out the cold box early this morning before leaving for work, I found four spoiled containers of take-away curry. If you're going to order take-away, please check for leftovers, first.

(We really must stop ordering take-away so often. Have you seen the latest Gringotts statement?)

Sir,

I was wondering whether you've seen Professor Dolohov's post tonight. He seems quite embarrassed. Do you think this is something the Governors need to handle, if it's serious enough for it to become a public relations issue?

Are you familiar with the text that was confused?
alt_percy: (Default)
Penny,

I found out today that Mr Malfoy has bespoken practically all my time tomorrow. I'm to represent his office at a number of Freedom Day events throughot the day and into the evening. I"m afraid this means I won't be free to work on arranging things at the flat, or doing any of the shopping we planned. And I won't be able to escort you to any of the Freedom Festival events.

I'm really sorry.

I have reservations for two for tomorrow night at Casa Di Stella's, which is a little spot that Mr Crispin told me about. I'd like to take you out to dinner to celebrate...well, it's not an anniversary precisely. Two weeks at your new job instead of two years. But I still think it's an occasion worth celebrating! Seven o'clock? I'll apparate to your place at quarter to.

Oh, and I have the list of new potential flats that have come on the market in today's Prophet, and I've circled a couple that look promising.
alt_percy: (Default)
We lost out on the flat. By the time they received my owl, the landlord had accepted another tenant's offer.

I'm sorry. We'll just have to keep looking.

This week's been

I don't understand why Charlie never invited me to visit the Dragon Reserve when I came of age. Why on earth does he prefer those two louts? The last time they were there they almost stampeded a clutching dragon.

And I don't know why I'm up late brooding over it. Ridiculous.
alt_percy: (Default)
I'm here at Hogwarts! Mr Malfoy graciously agreed that I could attend the Third Task. Where can I meet you so we can sit together in the stands?
alt_percy: (Default)
I know it's a nervewracking day, but you'll do just fine, I promise! You've revised hard, you're ready for the big event. Just keep calm and remind yourself you're perfectly capable of showing them what you know.

(And you'll have a new charm on your charm bracelet when this is all through.)

I've spent a few evenings in the past couple weeks looking at flats. A couple of near misses, but nothing quite in our price range yet, but I am hoping the market will open up a bit now that winter's over.

Well, that was one of the quietest Easter holiday fortnights I think we've ever had here at the Burrow. Ginny was gone to New London practically the entire time, Ron was off several times for CCF events. And the twins, inexplicably, spent most of the hols holed up in their room. And no explosions.

It's a pity we couldn't spend more time on the search for flats. I realise we're just trying to figure out what neighbourhood we want at this point but...it is discouraging, isn't it? I had no idea that a simple one bedroom could be so expensive. Never mind the two bedrooms that we want. I realise that we could economise more if we chose something like the last one, but really, what's the point of saving our Galleons with the hope of eventually hiring a muggleborn when we're forced to share a bath on the floor with someone in another flat?

Well, we still have time. With some further hunting, I'm sure we'll find an acceptable neighbourhood with more affordable rents.

I am sorry I didn't see you last night, but Mum told me about your late Floo call.

I wanted to pass along my heartiest congratulations, Bill. It's really splendid to have your talents recognised in such a gratifying way. I know that they say it's temporary, but really, now that you've been given a chance to shine, I'm sure you'll show them all that there's no reason you can't rise to the very top!

I listened to the wireless account of the Closing Ceremonies. The announcer described it all as quite an impressive spectacle. I understand that you were part of that as well.

I'd give anything to be able to be with you tonight.

How are things at the school?
