New Job

I am pleased to report that I have been offered a job at the Ministry, with the Department of International Magical Relations. I have accepted a position as a clerk with the International Magical Trading Standards Body (the office involved with imports and exports).

The job starts Monday.

Do you know what sorts of things you'll be doing?

Chiefly it has to do with dealing with the parchmentwork associated with the Ministry's efforts to maintain proper standards for weights and measures, on imports and exports, as I said.

It's rather a scut position, something to just get my foot in the door, I understand. But if everything works out, I should be able to step up to something more challenging and interesting in perhaps six months or so.

I mean, it's great that you've got anything at all, of course! And this will get you out of the house, which I know is probably more important than anything.

Just do so well they have to promote you, you know? If I know you you'll have the whole place organised and completely efficient inside of a month.

Only it's a good thing we planned for you to continue living at home for a while, I reckon. I mean, clerk in an office inside one of the smaller departments, well ... starting wage probably isn't as much as you hoped, is it?
